Explanation of the grade awarded
In the case of an oral examination or assessment of practical skills, you must submit your request for an explanation immediately on notification of the grade.
In the case of a written examination, you must submit your request for an explanation within a week of the announcement of the grade on Studentweb. If you have received a Fail grade (F), a written explanation will be sent to you by post without your requesting this.
If you wish an explanation of a Pass grade, you must request this via Studentweb.
Under Results in the Studentweb, you must click on the link Explanations and appeals. Click on the examination in question, and then Request an explanation of the examination result.
In the case of a Pass grade for a written examination, it is the examiner’s decision whether to give the explanation orally or in writing, and he/she has a time limit of two weeks to provide an explanation.
Appeal against the grade awarded
You have the right to appeal against the grade awarded for written examinations. Download the complaints form using the link below. You must submit the appeal in writing within three weeks of the announcement of the examination result.

Appeals may not be lodged against grades awarded for oral examinations or assessments of practical training which, owing to the nature of the test, cannot be reviewed.
In the case of an appeal against the grade awarded, the answer paper will be reassessed by two new examiners, at least one of whom will be an external examiner. As a rule, the appeal will generally be dealt with within two weeks.
The new result may entail that the grade is changed such that the grade is higher or lower than the original grading.
The grade awarded on reassessment is final.
If you complain about a grade that is included in a previously issued diploma or transcript of records following completion of your programme of studies, the document must be returned to VID Specialized University before the appeal can be dealt with.
If you have requested an explanation of the grade awarded or complained about procedural errors in connection with the examination, you should wait before appealing against the grade awarded. When you have received an explanation or answer in the case of a complaint about procedural errors, you must submit the appeal against the grade awarded within three weeks.
Information about the original grade and explanations from the student and previous examiners will be not be available to the new examiners.
Complaints about procedural errors
You should submit complaints about procedural errors in respect of examinations or assessments of practical training to VID Specialized University within three weeks of the date you became aware of or should have become aware of the circumstances that constitute the grounds for your complaint. If the complaint is not upheld, it must be submitted to VID’s appeals committee for a final decision.
The student will be informed in writing that the complaint will be submitted to the appeals committee and he/she will receive copies of all the case documents.
