Reading rooms and study spaces at VID Stavanger
- The main building building has 40 open and 30 designated study spaces.
- The library has both group study rooms and study spaces.
- The main hall has 12 designated and 10 open study spaces. This is a quiet room.
- The new hall has three tables which can used by groups or individuals.
- The library has three group study rooms which can be reserved in TimeEdit.
Study spaces and reading rooms are open to VID students holding a key card, 07.00 – 24.00, every day, all year round. All registered students holding a student card can get key card access at Studentservice.
Apply for a designated study space
The designated spaces are allocated for one semester. They are intended for students who need a space regularly. The library gives priority to 2nd year masterstudents and ph.d. students.
Students who want to apply for a study space must fill in the relevant application form:
- Autumn semester: August 25
- Spring semester: Desember 15
Answers to applications will be sent on e-mail. Applications sent after the closing date will be considered if there still are free spaces.
The allocation of study spaces takes place each semester. Students who already holds a study space have to reapply. Sent your questions on e-mail to the library at VID Stavanger or Studentservice.
Open study spaces
These spaces are intented for drop-in. The spaces must be cleared by the end of the day to give access to other students the following day.
The reading rooms are quiet areas. Show respect, and avoid conversations, cell phone sounds, other noices and strong smells. The library and the study spaces should be kept in order. Crockery and cutlery form the cantina have to be cleared away on a daily basis.
VID is not responsible for personal belongings left in the reading room, so do not leave valuables at your study space. The last person to leave a reading room should close windows and switch off lights.
In the case of absences exceeding three weeks you have to inform (by e-mail) the library at VID Stavanger or Studentservice. When unreported absences exceed three weeks the place will be passed on to another student.
Yor must clear up your study space at the end of the semester. Anything left after June 20 / December 20 will be thrown.
