The course has the following main focus areas:
- Historical developments in African biblical and theological hermeneutics, in particular models emphasizing inculturation, liberation and reconstruction perspectives.
- The transition from colonial to postcolonial contexts, and the effects of this on church and theology.
- The critical role and contribution by African feminist/womanist perspectives.

Teaching and compulsory activities
The course is offered as an intensive course week with 3 days of lectures and seminars.
It is compulsory for the participants to prepare and present a ten-minute discussion in class of main points and challenges of one of the models of African biblical and theological hermeneutics.
Oral examination (20 minutes).
