About the project
The question this project seeks to address is: How do organizational practices, institutional work and organizational identities in the nursing homes affirm cultural diversity and enhance inclusion?
The project is a qualitative study of cultural diversity and inclusion in the work place, with nursing homes in the city of Oslo as a case. The empirical data for the study is being gathered through participatory observation and interviews with leaders and employees at three different nursing homes in Oslo. In addition, documents from the city of Oslo and the nursing homes will be analyzed. The nursing homes have different operating structure – one run by the municipality, one by a third sector organization and one by a commercial actor. TH three nursing homes are located in different parts of the city – east, west and the city center of Oslo.
The study has an organizational focus and uses institutional theory as an approach to understand and interpret how leaders and employees operate in a multicultural work environment.
