Continuing education in prevention and management of challenging behaviour in individuals with developmental disabilities
Continuing education in prevention and management of challenging behaviour in individuals with developmental disabilities

Do you want to learn more about how to analyse and treat challenging behaviour? The objective of this programme is to strengthen competencies in professional approaches that enhance inclusion, participation and socially accepted roles.
The objective of the programme
The objective of this specialization programme is to improve services to disabled individuals with especially challenging behaviour, where the use of constraints may be necessary. Advanced skills training will help students to identify early signs of challenging behaviour, analyse and reach possible causal explanations, make proactive approaches and optimally handle existing challenges.
What do you learn?
The methodical approach in the specialization programme is inspired by the academic tradition Positive Behaviour Support or PBS. Positive behaviour support is mainly based on modern behavioural analysis and humanistic values. The objective of the interventions is to contribute to enhanced quality of life, inclusion, participation and socially accepted roles that promote citizenship. The interventions must be based on the individual’s interests, skills, wishes and opportunities and provide interaction skills that help citizens to be active participants in essential decision-making processes.
