While Hoffice provides a shared and lightly structured environment for any type of work, the Writing Boot Camp will be for generative writing only. We will use a structure of four working slots in a day, accurate and realistic goal setting, and peer-pressure to create a motivated and productive environment to advance in writing. The camp is for anyone who wishes to get a good amount of text done. The idea of the camp is to exclude everything that might distract from writing (notifications, phone, own notes, etc.) and just write from the top of your head. You should have done the reading so that you do not need to use the camp time for any research or notes. You can revise later. The schedule for two days of writing will consist of intense writing slots, small writing exercises, specified goal setting, and sharing experiences of obstacles to writing and strategies to cope with them.
The concept for the camp is taken from Canada. It is based on research on academic writing. The key factors for this type of camp are committed participation, well-organised structure for working, and peer-pressure/support. In addition to getting a lot of writing done, the boot camp is beneficial in a broader sense because participants are supposed to share their own experiences and tips.
The camp fits anyone who wants to produce a good amount of text (PhD and master students working with the thesis, all academics working with articles or monographies). Anyone wishing to find ways to improve own writing methods in general or wanting to have a possibility to advance a lot in a short period.
